How we exceeded our own expectations in 2019

 

The concept of Digital Smile Design and the DSD global company were born to address the challenges that all modern dentists face in their daily practice: how to demonstrate value to patients, how to work more efficiently and how to deliver consistent and natural esthetic results. In 2019, we were able to partner with more clinicians than ever before to side-step these challenges and grow their clinics in new ways, while also increasing their sense of professional enjoyment. 

 

Let’s take a look at just a few of the highlights for DSD in 2019...

 

 

We had success in all areas of the business in 2019 🚀

2019 has been an exciting year for us and we’re proud of what we have achieved in all areas of the company. We ended the year feeling positive about the progress we are going to see in 2020: 

 

 “Our ambitions are high and our goals are even higher. It was an amazing year for our Planning Center and we finally launched the DSD Lab. In DSD Education, there were huge achievements. The DSD Clinic project is also growing.”

We consolidated our partnership with Align Technology 🤝

John Coachman, DSD Business Development Director, explains one of the main highlights for him in 2019:

 

On the business side of DSD, the biggest achievement of 2019 for sure was the consolidation of the partnership with Align Technology. With the success of this partnership, the goal for DSD in 2020 is to find other partners in strategic areas inside dental and deliver real solutions to all our customers and our community.” 

 

In 2019, the partnership with dental industry giant, Align Technology, produced a number of key developments.

First is the Invisalign® DSD integration which enables dentists to plan cases using ClinCheck® software and DSD all in one place. This means that teeth no longer have to be aligned in isolation, but rather in harmony with the face.

With the integration of ClinCheck® software and DSD, a phase now simulates every orthodontic movement both in the models, and in the face in 3D.

In addition, the DSD Smile Design project is now included in the ClinCheck® platform, making it straightforward to visualize the movement depending on the smile design.

Additionally, the DSD Planning Center in Madrid announced its establishment as an official provider of  ClinCheck® Treatment Planning Services. The DSD Planning Center’s highly trained team, which includes experienced orthodontists, designs top-quality digital treatment plans for cases that require Invisalign® treatment, saving them valuable time.

The third significant development in this partnership is the launch of Lite Dentistry.

A quick, easy and affordable restorative esthetic solution that unites Invisalign Go clear aligner treatment and DSD Direct composite bonding, Lite Dentistry is a powerful marketing solution to present to patients who believe esthetic treatments are expensive, uncomfortable, and take a long time to complete.

The technique and marketing solution is taught at the Lite Dentistry course at key locations and dates across 2020.

We opened our China office 🇨🇳

After the success of the first DSD Residency in China, held in Shanghai in 2019, it became clear that the dental market is primed for Digital Smile Design. Peipei Cao, DSD China General Manager explains:

 

“In 2019, we founded our China office in Shanghai, providing treatment planning service and education service to this region. We’re looking forward to the year 2020, we’re going to expand our service to a larger customer base and launch our first DSD Clinic in the region.”

We launched a new website and updated our branding 🖥

Towards the end of 2019 we launched a new website, giving visitors a more attractive and engaging experience of our content. Finding relevant information and booking a place at one of our upcoming courses has never been so clear and easy. Additional phases of the new website will be rolled out over the course of 2020 with further developments which we look forward to showcase. 

 

We also updated our brand appearance as part of our enhanced marketing activities in 2019.

Having created a globally recognizable brand in dentistry within the past 10 years has been one of our greatest achievements as DSD Company. As we believe in continuous improvement, we felt it was a good time to give our sub brands a more unified appearance and ensure our main brand was updated.

The result? A look that is more consistent with our digital mindset, a modernized logo identity and even greater cohesion between the different pillars of DSD.

Chief Marketing Officer, Brendon Macdonald, summarizes the some of the 2019 marketing successes:

 

“More people saw DSD, we got more people in our audiences, our social media grew, our database grew. It’s been a huge success, we’re so happy and we’re super excited about what we’ve got coming for you in 2020 in terms of phase two and phase three of our planned website: the DSD Planning Center case management system, the chats, and many, many other things that are coming.”
