2020 is set to be another exciting year with DSD courses all over the world, covering a wide range of content, concepts and skills. To make it as easy as possible for you to find the right DSD learning experience for you, we have categorized our courses in various ways in this blog post. Courses by duration ⏳

Our courses range from one to four days, giving you flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule. Below, you can see all of our course options by the amount of days they cover.

One-day courses 

If you’ve heard of Digital Smile Design and would like to know more about what it is, DSD Day is the perfect way to get started! On this intensive course, Christian Coachman gives an introduction to the DSD digital workflow, Emotional Dentistry, Cloud Dentistry and much more, showing you how to differentiate your clinic from the competition using the concepts which are revolutionizing dentistry. We also have a one-day Emotional Presentation course which is specifically designed to help clinicians and clinic staff members improve their skills in digital dental photography. On this course, Drs Jesus Creagh and  Federico Brunner show you the importance of taking great photographs for case acceptance and patient experience, as well as the practical skills you need to be able to do this in your clinic. These Emotional Presentation courses take place the day after the Residency 1 and 2 programs and are a great way to improve your skills immediately after learning all about these concepts.

Two-day courses 

The two-day DSD Coordinators course is ideal for any dental clinic. It provides comprehensive training for clinic staff members on how to successfully use and implement all aspects of DSD. The DSD Coordinator is an essential role for any clinic which offers DSD, and this is the vital training they need to hit the ground running and provide an optimal experience for patients. 

Another two-day DSD course is all about the concept of Lite Dentistry. This is a powerful package which joins Invisalign® and DSD Direct composite bonding as one treatment offering and shows you how to market them more effectively to your patients -- reaching a larger percentage of people and increasing case acceptance. On the Lite Dentistry course, you’ll find out why this is the perfect treatment to show your patients the value of a confident smile, and get hands-on practice performing the DSD Direct composite technique on a model.

Our other new two-day course is the DSD & Aligners course. This is the ideal option for learning about the DSD and Invisalign® integration and how it benefits your Invisalign cases and your patients. If you want to do more Invisalign cases and improve your facially driven dentistry, consider booking your place to join us. 

If 2020 is the year that you’d like your clinic to begin its journey to becoming a DSD Clinic, you can also book a two-day DSD Consultancy.  This is a course which is totally customized to you -- your clinic, your staff, your processes. On a DSD Consultancy, our expert team travels to YOU and trains your staff in house. Three-day courses

If you are thinking about getting started with DSD and looking for a full immersion in the concepts, consider coming to one of our three-day DSD Concept courses. This is three intensive days with Luken de Arbeloa and the talented DSD Education team learning about Smile Design concepts and how they can help your business to grow. You’ll see a live patient smile mock-up, learn how to work with the DSD Planning Center, practice how to compile patient documentation, and much more.

Are you already experienced in implementing DSD and looking to improve your technique? Our 3-day Natural Restorations course is an over-the-shoulder learning experience that will teach you how to perform better facially guided dentistry and produce excellent restorations inspired by the imperfections found in natural teeth. You’ll attend lectures, watch patient demonstrations and get valuable hands-on experience.

Four-day courses

Our flagship Residency 1 program is a fantastic starting point for those who want to get started with the DSD concepts and hear from world-leading speakers such as DSD Founder and CEO Christian Coachman. This is a truly unique four-day course which introduces Digital Smile Design, gives you first-hand experience of Emotional dentistry through a live patient mock-up, and shows you how to implement DSD to differentiate your clinic from the competition.

After you have learned the concepts at Residency 1, the four-day Residency 2 provides an intense week of clinical application. You’ll observe 14 procedures performed live and experience the full digital and clinical workflow of the top team at DSD Clinic Well Clinic in São Paulo, Brazil.

Here is a breakdown of all our courses in 2020 by location.

Asia

After the incredible success of our first DSD Residency 1 in Shanghai in September 2019, the team will be back again for the second in August 2020. This is a full four-day immersion in the DSD concepts with Christian Coachman and other world-leading speakers, giving you the tools to implement DSD in your own practice. There will also be simultaneous English - Mandarin interpretation included as part of the course.

Australia

If you want to take your first step with DSD in Australia, join us on the DSD Day in Sydney when DSD Founder and CEO Christian Coachman will explain how to use technology to adapt to and compete in the disruptive and competitive dental market. Learn how to future proof your practice!

North America

2020 is set to be a busy year in the United States! This year, you can join us on the following courses in Miami: 

Residency 1 - a four-day immersion in the concepts and the chance to experience the value of Emotional Dentistry and Digital Dentistry first hand; 

Lite Dentistry - learn how to use the powerful treatment package of Invisalign + DSD Direct composite bonding to dramatically increase case acceptance in patients and deliver beautiful smiles quickly, simply and affordably; 

DSD & Aligners - understand how to start doing more Invisalign cases and learn all about the Invisalign-DSD collaboration and workflow; 

DSD Coordinators - essential training for clinic members on how to run every aspect of the patient’s DSD journey -- from doing full patient digitalization to mastering powerful emotional presentations, and more.  

Emotional Presentation - join the talented team of Drs Jesús Creagh and Federico Brunner to learn the vital digital dental photography skills to improve patient experience and case acceptance.

We will also be hosting two DSD Day courses in Texas and Pennsylvania.

South America

In 2020, we will continue to host Residency 2 programs in São Paulo, Brazil. On this course, you’ll spend four days at the Coachman family clinic, Well Clinic, getting first-hand experience of the full digital and clinical workflow at a real DSD Clinic! You’ll observe over 14 treatments performed live and participate in a clinical brainstorming session about the procedures.

At the end of the Residency 2 program, in São Paulo, Brazil, there is also the Emotional Presentation digital dental photography course. This intensive 1-day experience, presented by Dr Jesús Creagh and Dr Federico Brunner, gives you hands-on experience which is directly applicable to the DSD protocols to help you give patients an even better experience. 

There will also be two DSD Day courses in South America in 2020 -- one in Mexico City, Mexico and another in Medellin, Colombia. 

Europe

Madrid will be a hive of activity in 2020! The Spanish capital and home to DSD HQ will be hosting a DSD Day to introduce newcomers to the world of DSD;  three Residency 1 courses where participants get a full immersion in the concepts; and Emotional Presentation digital dental photography courses which take place the day after the Residency programs end. In addition, there will be three Lite Dentistry courses to explain this new treatment offering and give participants hands-on practice with the DSD Direct composite bonding technique; one DSD & Aligners course for those who want to start doing more Invisalign cases; and a three-day DSD Concept course for a thorough grounding in the DSD concepts and how to use them to differentiate your clinic. Finally, there will also be a DSD Coordinators course for clinic staff members to learn how to manage the entire DSD patient journey successfully, from start to finish.

There will also be a DSD Day course in Istanbul, Turkey.

Middle East

Join us in Dubai for our DSD Concept course and spend three days with Dr Luken de Arbeloa and the talented DSD Education team. Courses by language 🗣

To make our content as accessible as possible for our international community of dentists from all over the world, the majority of our courses globally take place in English. In 2020, however, we will also be delivering several courses in different languages.

For Spanish speakers: In 2020 we’ll be holding a DSD Concept course in Spanish in Madrid – get a deep dive into the concepts on a three-day course taught by Luken de Arbeloa and the team, learning how to do Smile Design, implement digital protocols in your clinic for greater clinical efficiency and predictability, increase the perceived value of dental treatment, and much more. 

For Mandarin speakers: If you’re in Asia Pacific, why not join us at our second DSD Residency 1 in Shanghai? Get a full immersion in the DSD concepts, with simultaneous interpretation from English to Mandarin offered as part of the course. 

In 2020, our Residency 1 courses in Madrid will also offer translation to French, German and Russian, making our content even more readily available to clinicians and team members from all over the world.

Courses for clinicians 🦷️

If you’re a clinician looking to book your place on a DSD course... take your pick! Apart from the DSD Coordinators course, which is designed for team members, all of our courses are suitable for you. Just take into consideration your current knowledge and experience with DSD to make sure you choose the experience which will be most beneficial for you. For those who have heard about Digital Smile Design and would like to learn more about it, there is our entry level DSD Day with DSD Founder and CEO Christian Coachman, which gives a full introduction to the concepts. Or, if you want a full immersion in DSD and in-depth knowledge of how to implement it in your practice to differentiate yourself and your clinic, there are also our DSD Concept and Residency 1 courses. 

Have you already attended a Residency 1 and started to use Digital Smile Design in your clinic? It might be time for you to choose a Residency 2. This in-depth experience at a real DSD Clinic allows you to observe the implementation of the concepts from a clinical perspective, with live patient demonstrations and a clinical brainstorming session. 

We also offer several courses that are focused specifically on certain techniques, for clinicians who already have experience with DSD. If you are a member of a dental clinic team, you are welcome to attend any of our courses! However, there are several courses aimed specifically at enhancing team member skills to improve the patient experience and digital workflow. 

The one-day Emotional Presentation digital dental photography course teaches vital skills needed to improve case acceptance and patient experience through the motivational mock-up. It’s divided up into 50% theoretical and 50% practical content to give you real hands-on experience -- we want you to take as many photos as you can on this day! This course takes place the day following our Residency courses so if you’re already there, it’s even easier to attend. If not, you can book your place anyway. 

Our DSD Coordinators course is specifically for team members at dental clinics which are getting started with DSD. Whether you’re an existing or newly appointed DSD Coordinator, this two-day course will show you how to compile full patient documentation, master the mock-up appointment, build excellent relationships with patients, and much more. Just bring your enthusiasm for DSD and your organization skills!

For a full immersion in the DSD concepts and a real understanding of the value they will bring to a dental clinic – as well as how to implement them successfully – our DSD Day and Residency 1 courses are great choices. Lite Dentistry brings together Invisalign® teeth straightening and DSD Direct composite bonding in one easy-to-deliver package which is simple and affordable for patients. On our dedicated Lite Dentistry course, we give you the chance to get more familiar with the DSD Direct Composite element by practicing the techniques on a printed model.

DSD Natural Restorations mean delivering beautiful, confident smiles which are inspired by the imperfections found in natural teeth – on this course, we give you the practical experience you need to make this a reality for your patients.
