Advancing skills and knowledge through DSD Education

2019 was a busy year for us here at Digital Smile Design and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved this year in DSD Education. This part of our business is responsible for organizing and hosting our in-person courses, as well as providing DSD’s online courses, Member+ and DSD OnDemand.

For many people, attending our in-person courses is their first experience of and introduction to what DSD is really all about and they’re a crucial part of spreading the message about our concepts and methodology in the industry. From delivering the highest number of courses ever in 2019 to presenting in 22 cities around the globe, our community is growing and we were able to offer a better, more international service and more immersive learning experiences than ever before.

Here’s all the great news from DSD Education in 2019!

We offered more courses than ever 👏

In 2019, we were lucky enough to deliver 29 courses throughout the year. We started the year in São Paulo and our final course took place at the beginning of December in Medellin, Colombia. Through our total courses we delivered over a whopping 700 teaching hours, from which we hope our attendees went away with plenty of confidence to implement these new ideas in their clinics.

Of the 29 courses that we delivered, 10 of these were DSD Days and 10 were DSD Residency 1, while the rest were a combination of our other concept courses.

Starting in 2020, we will offer 15 different courses in total, from conceptual Residency 1 and DSD Concept, to our user-level experiences that show practitioners how to implement specific methods and technology in their clinics. Adding clinical courses to our schedule, including ones in collaboration with Align Technology, is a further step ahead for DSD, and one that we think will be a great success for both us and our community of dentists.

We became more global 🌍🌎🌏

In 2019, we delivered courses in 22 cities across the world. While we’ve been presenting in places such as São Paulo and Miami for a while, it was the first year we taught in Cancun and Shanghai. And across these 22 cities, we received over 2,000 participants from all over the globe.

Our globality is something that makes DSD stand out from the crowd and we love learning about different cultures. We’re a very international team ourselves, which means we’re now able to offer courses in different languages: English and Spanish. For example, in 2019, there were a total of 80 DSD presenters from as far and wide as Venezuela, Spain and Brazil. Between them, they have many many years of experience in dentistry.

We grew our community 👥

What’s exciting for us to see is that of all the people that attended one of our courses in 2019, 50 decided to book onto another course in the same year. There’s also a group of dentists and team members – 15 to be exact – who attended the same course more than once.

We love the community that we’ve created and we’re very happy that you love it as much as we do!

We created affordable online content 🖥️

One of the biggest achievements for DSD Education in 2019 was to make the DSD  course content accessible online. Sharing knowledge has always been at the core of what we do here at DSD and distributing content in an online platform format was a natural progression for us.

Our new online education courses, DSD Member+ and DSD OnDemand, are a way for dentists and clinic team members to learn the DSD Concept and digital methods to implement DSD. The content includes customised video lectures, tutorials and even a DSD certification in how to apply DSD’s digital protocols. With our online content, we can now reach a much wider audience of practitioners at a more affordable price point. These digital learning platforms also make the DSD lectures mobile, giving subscribers the ability to repeat and rewatch the lessons as many times as needed.

We increased the global impact of DSD Education 🌐

In 2019, our courses became even more global! Luken De Arbeloa, DSD Education MD, explains:

“For me, the greatest achievement in DSD Education in 2019 was the increasing globality of our courses. Now more than ever, we’re able to reach a much larger audience of practitioners and 2019 was the first time our popular Residency 1 course was delivered in Spanish by Christian Coachman. It was also the first time DSD presented in China and we added more dates in Latin America, officially opening up the Spanish-speaking market. In 2020 we’re going back to many of these places to present again, following the great response and demand from dental professionals in these regions.

In 2019, we also gave an increased amount of training to our official DSD Clinics, which is a great experience for both our presenters and the clinic staff, who receive intensive and live hands-on training in DSD’s techniques and methodology.

As well as launching our online courses, we’ve also created and published more online articles to educate our audiences and we share these with our loyal followers on social media, which is continuing to grow.

And hotly anticipated in 2020 we started working on our very own DSD book, which we’ll reveal in due course.”

We have many great things to be proud of and we couldn’t have done it without you. So we want to say thank you to you, our supportive and growing community and we hope 2020 is an even greater year for all of us!
