Covid-19 has a lot to answer for…

As a member of our community, you’ll know that when Covid-19 brought global daily life to a standstill earlier this year, it also railroaded our plans for the biggest year in DSD Education with more new courses and locations than ever before. 

We postponed our planned in-person courses to keep our participants and teams safe as this was and still is our first priority. It meant that for the first time ever, we had to bring one of our Residency 1 courses to an early close. But while this unforeseen event certainly altered our plans for how things were going to run in 2020, it didn’t mean that we put the brakes on. As always, we did what DSD does best...we innovated. We were determined to continue providing world class education to dentists and team members, making the most of this unexpected downtime away from the clinic. We got the ball rolling with our series of live webinars hosted by Christian Coachman and Luken de Arbeloa which featured esteemed guest speakers from the dentistry and dental industries covering a wide range of  clinical topics.

But we weren’t content to stop there. While we already had a dedicated online learning platform where you can begin and continue your journey with Digital Smile Design - DSD Online Education - we wanted to create a new, interactive type of learning experience. Our aim was to bring our community together by replicating as closely as possible the participatory atmosphere of our much-loved Residency 1 programs – but this time, in an online environment. 

And so, DSD Residency 1 Livestream was born 

As our very first live online course, the DSD Residency 1 Livestream is a brand-new format designed to offer the best of our in-person Residency 1 programs online but with even more. It has already succeeded in bringing together dentists around the world who unite in one key goal: modernizing their dentistry and falling in love with the profession again. 

Christian Coachman explains: “With the Residency 1 in-person course, you come to us for four days and with the DSD Residency Livestream, you have us come to YOU through the web for 2 hours a week, for 12 weeks.

It’s fresh - there are new slides, new topics, slides related to the crisis we are living in right now - the survival mode and how to come out of this stronger. All the things that I have been learning over the last three months through the amazing interviews that I did and discussions that I had with our most knowledgeable and insightful, I’m going to be adding to the course with really fresh information about how this crisis will affect our profession, and how we need to reinvent ourselves as dentists to increase the chances of success.”

But what exactly can you expect from DSD Residency 1 Livestream?

Here’s a quick rundown of the DSD Residency 1 Livestream course format:

• It’s a 12-week program of online learning delivered by Christian Coachman and other guest lecturers
• Classes take place as a series of easy-to-digest two-hour sessions
• We take a deep dive into core DSD topics like patient digitalization, guided dentistry and digital quality control
• Classes combine lectures, hands-on sessions and live patient demonstrations
• You get even more face time with Christian Coachman than a traditional course through the interactive, live Q&A sessions

In addition, taking part in this program online removes the barriers of time or location, which means that you can immerse yourself in DSD from your preferred location, at the pace that best fits your learning style. On Demand access to content also allows you to watch the sessions as many times you need to really master the concepts.

A community-building experience for participants

Bringing like-minded dentists together in one community-building experience is a big part of our DSD courses and we were determined that this one would be no exception. That’s why DSD Residency 1 Livestream participants also gain access to our new and exclusive online network, Evolving Clinician. 

As well as interacting with other course attendees, Christian Coachman and the DSD team, you can also access the replays of each session on demand and download bonus content such as weekly workbook activities, extra study materials and quizzes to monitor your progress.
